On Friday, Hearst Corp. from New York has purchased Houston Community Newspapers and Media Group which sells 24 local papers weekly and online through YourHoustonNews.com. These papers will now have a new main editor and she is the Chronicle’s editor Nancy Barnes. Most of these newspapers target those living in the Northern Houston communities, mostly those close to Beltway 8. Other communities are also served by these newspapers such as in Pasadena and the River Oaks-West University-Bellaire areas. At least 1.4 million readers are reported to be 1013 Communications’ readers for these local newspapers in 2012 before they were bought by Hearst.
