Houston hospital to open Zika clinic

With the Zika outbreak now causing alarm worldwide, the Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women will be opening a special Zika clinic. This one-of-a-kind clinic is the first Zika clinic in Texas and the clinic aims to assist in the research regarding the disease and help pregnant women who have shown signs of Zika or those who have travelled to known Zika-affected countries. The clinic also offers counselling and tests to ensure that the fetus is safe from Zika. Houston has been working actively to assist in combatting Zika as it has recently received a $1.5 million funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to combat its growth in the country.
