Maersk to cut more Houston-based jobs after drillship contract canceled early
A massive layoff is currently underway for Maersk Drilling USA as it was announced that they will be laying off 122 offshore rig jobs in their roster such as those based in Houston. The notifications were already sent out to employees since July 28 and will remain workers for 60 days without bumping rights. All of the affected workers are currently working on Maersk Valiant which currently operating in the Gulf of Mexico. The company did also announce that if the Valiant contract gets renewed, they will recall some of the lay-offed workers to return back to work. Maersk also remarked that the termination of Valiant also points out the existence of challenges in the oil market.
