Survey: Houston continues to struggle with construction labor shortage

According to a survey done by the Associated General Contractors of Americas 4th annual industry survey, Houston continues to struggle with laborers. At least 80% of Houston’s 14 construction companies which took part in the survey said that they are having a hard time filing up hourly trade and craft positions, especially concrete workers and carpenters. At least half of these respondents also reported problems in filing personnel and construction superintendents, supervisors and project managers for their projects. The reason for the decline is said to be triggered to the move of workers to the oil industry and their reluctance to return back to construction.
